She said: “We are very disheartened with the sadden death of our uncle who was the pillar of the family. His death comes just two months after losing his sister and we are very disturbed.

“We will greatly miss him because he was a source of our knowledge.”

Born on March 12 1956, Munlo went to Malire Primary School, before being selected to St Patrick’s Secondary School in Chiradzulu.

He later went to Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources, then Bunda College of Agriculture, before joining Ministry of Agriculture after graduating.

He was recalled by former president Peter Mutharika in 2016 to be director in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Later, he was promoted to PS post and retired in 2018.
