Pan Africa Senior Advocacy Advisor Joab Okanda said that the permanent inclusion of the African Union (AU) into the G20 is a big victory for the continent’s democracy.
The African Union became a permanent member of the G20 on Saturday, following a proposal put forth by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, that was welcomed by all member countries. Thereafter, PM Modi invited the President of the Union of Comoros and Chairperson of the African Union (AU), Azali Assoumani, to take his seat at the G20 high table.
